Abstract As part of the synthesis of a tracking system for an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) exposed to uncontrolled external disturbances under the conditions of incomplete measurements of the state vector, we develop procedures for synthesizing novel low-order state and disturbance observers that do not require constructing dynamic models of exter...

The monograph published by E.Ya. Remez in 1957 addressed numerical methods with Chebyshev approximations. Particularly, the problem of the best uniform approximation of a function that is convex on an interval with continuous piecewise linear functions with free nodes was considered. In 1975, A.M. Vershik, V.N. Malozemov, and A.B. Pevnyi developed ...

Given α ∈ (0, 1) and c = h + iβ, h, β ∈ R, the function fα,c: R → C defined as follows is considered: (1) fα,c is Hermitian, i.e., fα,c(−x)fα,c(x)¯,x∈ℝ;\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \usepackage{amsmath} \usepackage{wasysym} \usepackage{amsfonts} \usepackage{amssymb} \usepackage{amsbsy} \usepackage{mathrsfs} \usepackage{upgreek} \setlength{\oddsidem...

The identification of the limits between the cell division, elongation and mature zones in the root apex is still a matter of controversy when methods based on cellular features, molecular markers or kinematics are compared while methods based on cell length profiles have been comparatively underexplored. Segmentation models were developed to ident...

The paper deals with the parameter identification of cascade nonlinear dynamic systems with noninvertible piecewise linear input nonlinearities and backlash output nonlinearities. Application of the key term separation principle provides special expressions for the corresponding nonlinear model description that are linear in parameters. A least squ...

For each n, the free abelian group F on countably many free generators will be equipped with a monoid P n making (F,P n) into the free n-generator abelian ℓ-group. This is a generalization of the main result of the second author, published in the J. Pure Appl. Algebra 208 (2007), 549–554, only dealing with the case n = 2.

In this paper, we introduce a new class of function systems generalizing the classical Faber-Schauder system. Under the condition that the generating sequence is bounded, we show that systems of such a class constitute bases in the space of continuous functions and prove some properties of series expansions of functions in these systems.
