AbstractThe thermal stability and composition of the gas phase of Sovol technical mixture of polychlorobiphenyls was studied by synchronous thermal analysis and mass spectrometry in comparison with the derivatives synthesized by the reaction of the congeners with sodium methoxide or with polyethylene glycol in the presence of alkali. The obtained m...

Mono-, di-, and trichlorobiphenyls showed different reactivities toward alkali in 2-aminoethanol under reflux: 3-chlorobiphenyl remained unchanged, 2,4,5- and 2,4′,5-trichlorobiphenyls were completely converted to hydroxy derivatives, whereas 3,4-dichlorobiphenyl and a mixture of 2,4′-, 3,4′-, and 4,4′-dichlorobiphenyls gave rise to chlorobiphenyls...

The reaction of congeners of polychlorinated biphenyls with potassium hydroxide has been studied using different polyalkanolamines as the solvent. Predominant formation of hydroxy derivatives under the conditions of thermodynamic control has been observed. The conversion of the congeners of polychlorinated biphenyls in the hydroxylation reaction an...

Sulfonation of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and their commercial mixture (Trichlorobiphenyl) with oleum has been studied. General sulfonation patterns have been revealed for PCB congeners having no substituents in the ortho positions. The sulfonation of PCBs with chlorine atoms in only one aromatic ring gives exclusively the corresponding polyc...

AbstractThe main objective of this research was the physicochemical characterization of a wine Borojó (Borojoa patinoi Cuatrec) for the exploitation of this exotic fruit of the Colombian Pacific. Borojó wine (Alibertia patinoi cuantrec) was obtained from the fermentation of the must, after this stage the wine was clarification and filtration proces...

Polychlorinated biphenyls contained in the Trikhlorbifenil technical mixture have been studied and identified. Content of the congeners in the mixture has been determined using the internal reference method. The results have been applied to determine qualitative and quantitative composition of polychlorinated biphenyls in contaminated soil.

Many invasive species are considered competitively superior to native species, with the strongest competition expected in species with similar niches and/or in closely related species. However, competition outcome is strongly context-dependent as competitive strength varies along environmental gradients, and life stages, and also depends on abundan...

Saccharomyces are the main yeasts involved during alcoholic beverages fermentation. However, there are other yeasts known as non-Saccharomyces, which also participate during the fermentation, but they are rarely considered as active participants in these processes. The most important non-Saccharomyces yeasts are Kloeckera apiculata, Hanseniaspora u...

Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), also known by the trade name Sovol, are toxic industrial wastes. They have been subjected to chemical treatment by polyethylene glycols (PEGs) and potassium hydroxide. As a result of the interaction of the Sovol with various molecular mass PEGs (MMPEG-4 ∼ 200, MMPEG-22 ∼ 1000), water-soluble mixtures M1 and M2 cont...
