This paper focuses on three of the historiographical trends on identity issues have been prominent in the study of the Roman world over the last twenty years bringing about important changes in the way we conceive collective belonging From the efforts to decolonise the historical sciences to the growing rise of global interpretations including the incorporation of gender perspective and feminist theory the current understanding the so-called Romanization and Roman identities are characterised not only by a general adherence to a viewpoint far removed from old essentialisms but also for focusing on new issues such as the ethnic factor the role of local communities connectivity and mobility multiculturalism hybridisation and marginalised groups However this novel scenario can lead to new problems like other essentialisms and the over-representation of aspects such as diversity contact resistance and cultural mixing En el presente trabajo se presta atenci n a tres de las tendencias historiogr ficas que centradas con preferencia en lo identitario han adquirido durante los ltimos veinte a os un considerable peso en el estudio del mundo romano propiciando importantes cambios a la hora de concebir las pertenencias colectivas Desde los empe os por decolonizar la ciencia hist rica al creciente auge de las interpretaciones globales pasando por la incorporaci n de la perspectiva de g nero y la teor a feminista las maneras de entender la llamada romanizaci n y las identidades romanas se caracterizan hoy no solo por la adhesi n general a una ptica alejada de los viejos esencialismos sino tambi n por focalizarse en nuevos temas tales como el factor tnico el papel de las comunidades locales la conectividad y movilidad el multiculturalismo las hibridaciones o los grupos tradicionalmente invisibilizados No obstante este panorama novedoso ha hecho emerger nuevas problem ticas como las reesencializaciones y la sobrerrepresentaci n de aspectos como la diversidad el contacto las resistencias o la mezcla cultural
