The methanol-to-hydrocarbons reaction on zeolites produces olefins from many sources, but catalyst stability is a major challenge. Here, by combining operando measurements and simulations, the formation and identification of deactivating carbonaceous species throughout the reaction are achieved.

Photocatalytic ozonation (light/O-3/photocatalyst), an independent advanced oxidation process (AOP) proposed in 1996, has demonstrated over the past two decades its robust oxidation capacity and potential for practical wastewater treatment using sunlight and air (source of ozone). However, its development is restricted by two main issues: (i) a lac...

The methanol-to-olefins process over H-SAPO-34 is characterized by its high shape selectivity toward light olefins. The catalyst is a supramolecular system consisting of nanometer-sized inorganic cages, decorated by Brønsted acid sites, in which organic compounds, mostly methylated benzene species, are trapped. These hydrocarbon pool species are es...

A combined experimental and theoretical study is presented of several ligand addition reactions of the triplet fragment 3CpMn(CO)2 formed upon photolysis of CpMn(CO)3. Experimental data are provided for reactions in n-heptane and perfluoromethylcyclohexane (PFMCH), as well as in PFMCH doped with C2H6, Xe and CO2. In PFMCH we find that the conversio...

A systematic molecular level and spectroscopic investigation is presented to show the cooperative role of Bronsted acid and Lewis acid sites in zeolites for the conversion of methanol. Extra-framework alkaline-earth metal containing species and aluminum species decrease the number of Bronsted acid sites, as protonated metal clusters are formed. A c...

Based on the optimization of the recently proposed gas phase mechanism for n-heptane pyrolysis, mechanisms for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) formation and a detailed wall surface reaction, a basic gaseous pyrolysis mechanism with 1127 steps and a simplified surface reaction mechanism with 34 steps were developed, respectively. After perform...
