The notion of bounded element of C*-inductive locally convex spaces (or C*-inductive partial *-algebras) is introduced and discussed in two ways: The first one takes into account the inductive structure provided by certain families of C*-algebras; the second one is linked to the natural order of these spaces. A particular attention is devoted to th...

In this paper, we shall give an elementary proof of a Bishop-Stone-Weierstrass theorem for (M2(ℂ))n with respect to its pure states. To be more precise, we shall show that the pure-state Bishop hull of a unital subalgebra (not necessarily self-adjoint) of (M2(ℂ))n is equal to itself.

As the first step towards developing noncommutative geometry over Hecke C∗-algebras, we study property (RD) (Rapid Decay) for Hecke pairs. When the subgroup H in a Hecke pair (G, H) is finite, we show that the Hecke pair (G, H) has (RD) if and only if G has (RD). This provides us with a family of examples of Hecke pairs with property (RD). We also ...

We present a new construction of dense, isospectral subalgebras of unconditional Banach algebras over word-hyperbolic groups. We study the algebras thus obtained and derive applications to delocalized L2-invariants of closed Riemannian manifolds of negative curvature and to the local cyclic cohomology of the reduced group C*-algebras of word-hyperb...

For dynamical systems defined by a covering map of a compact Hausdorff space and the corresponding transfer operator, the associated crossed product C*-algebras C(X)⋊α,ℒℕ introduced by Exel and Vershik are considered. An important property for homeomorphism dynamical systems is topological freeness. It can be extended in a natural way to in general...

Let X be an infinite set and let φ be a given mapping of it into itself. We consider the C*-algebra Cφ(X) with a single generating element Tφ on Hilbert space l2(X). We show that Cφ(X) is isomorphic to C*-algebra generated by a finite set of partial isometries of a special kind if Tφ is continuous. We give the full description of Cφ(X) in case φ is...
