The world faces a significant challenge regarding access to prosthetics for amputees In 2017 it was estimated that there were nearly 58 million amputees worldwide and this figure isexpected to double by 2050 Despite this only a small fraction of them have access toprosthetics The reasons for this inadequate access include high costs lack of knowledge andinfrastructure as well as economic barriers in developing countries To address this issue Halmstad University and Lindhe Xtend AB have collaborated on aproject to enable the manufacturing and distribution of prosthetics in developing countries The project leverages technologies such as 3D scanning and 3D printing to make themanufacturing process more efficient and cost-effective Additionally the project involves thecollection and reuse of prosthetics from the Western world to reduce material costs and waste which is expected to have positive environmental impacts by reducing waste management andpromoting material reuse The outcome of the study a business model called Circular Business Model Canvas isexpected to increase the accessibility of customized and sustainable prosthetics for amputees By offering this solution the project aims to reduce the social exclusion and stigma oftenassociated with disabilities Moreover several analyses have been carried out to form thebasis for the action plans developed to implement the business model within an organizationto initiate a pilot project The project includes a potential mobile clinic which has been a central component forimplementation The mobile clinic enables the production and provision of customizedprosthetic sockets on-site in vulnerable areas such as Malawi and Tanzania Usingtechnologies like 3D scanning and 3D printing prosthetics can be tailored to the individual sspecific needs directly on-site A mobile clinic is a solution to overcome obstacles related to the lack of access to orthopediccare and prosthetics in remote areas By bringing care and rehabilitation closer to patients theneed for long journeys to major cities or specialized clinics is reduced thereby increasingaccessibility for those who would otherwise have difficulty obtaining prosthetics V rlden st r inf r en stor utmaning n r det g ller tillg ngen till proteser f r amputeradepersoner r 2017 ber knades det att n stan 58 miljoner m nniskor var amputerade v rlden ver och denna siffra f rv ntas f rdubblas till 2050 Trots detta f r endast en liten del av demtillg ng till proteser Orsaker till denna bristf lliga tillg ng r h ga kostnader brist p kunskap och infrastruktur samt ekonomiska hinder i utvecklingsl nder F r att adressera denna problematik har H gskolan i Halmstad och Lindhe Xtend ABsamarbetat i ett projekt f r att m jligg ra tillverkning och distribution av proteser iutvecklingsl nder Projektet bygger p teknik som 3D-scanning och 3D-printning f r att g ratillverkningsprocessen mer effektiv och kostnadseffektiv Dessutom involverar projektetinsamling och teranv ndning av proteser fr n v stv rlden f r att minska materialkostnaderoch avfall vilket f rv ntas ha positiva milj effekter genom minskad avfallshantering och teranv ndning av material Projektets m l r att uppr tta en Circular Business ModelCanvas som anv nds f r att visualisera beskriva bed ma situationen Med stort fokus p kundernas perspektiv och att s kerst lla att alla faktorer r inriktade p att skapa v rde Resultatet av projektet aff rsmodellen Circular Business Model Canvas f rv ntas ge en kad tillg nglighet f r amputerade personer till anpassade och h llbara proteser Genom atterbjuda denna l sning str var projektet efter att minska den sociala uteslutningen och stigmasom ofta f ljer med funktionsneds ttningar Dessutom har flera analyser gjorts som ligger tillgrund f r de handlingsplaner som tagits fram f r att kunna implementera aff rsmodellen i enorganisation f r att kunna p b rja ett pilotprojekt Projektet inkluderar en potentiell mobilklinik vilket har varit en central del f r ettgenomf rande Den mobila kliniken m jligg r att anpassade hylsor till proteser tillverkas ocherbjuds p plats i utsatta omr den s som Malawi och Tanzania Genom att anv nda tekniksom 3D-scanning och 3D-printning kan proteserna skr ddarsys efter individens specifikabehov direkt p plats En mobilklinik r en l sning f r att vervinna hinder relaterade till bristande tillg nglighet tillortopedisk v rd och proteser i avl gsna omr den Genom att f ra v rd och rehabiliteringn rmare patienterna minskar behovet av l nga resor till stora st der eller specialiseradekliniker vilket i sin tur kar tillg ngligheten f r dem som annars skulle haft sv rt att f tillg ng till proteser
