Travis Herberger was born and raised in Longview, Texas. For him, watercolors are the perfect medium because they're elusive, unpredictable and have a mind of their own! Travis Herberger's paintings are reflective of his surroundings. He likes to include figures in his paintings because people make up the place where he lives-urban settings with lots of colors seem like their ideal settings for these figurative portraits. Although he often moves things around to create compositions, Travis prefers to keep certain elements rather than eliminate them to "pretty" up a picture.
For 5 years, Travis has taken part in a local sketch group where they draw live models. In his mind, drawing is not only his passion but it goes hand-in-hand with painting. This artist's work includes various mediums such as oil and acrylic paint on canvas - some of which he does himself and others that are done by commissioned artists for him to use in his own paintings when needed.
Travel has been an important influence in Travis Herberger's paintings. He has spent quite a bit of time in the Caribbean as a child and the travel bug took him to Europe, South and Central America as well as Africa. Traveling also led to some wonderful publishing opportunities for his watercolors: on show posters, marketing materials, magazines covers and apparel!
