I am a PhD student (final year), currently working on the cell wall of a human fungal pathogen, Pseudallescheria boydii, the second most commonly isolated filamentous fungus in cystic fibrosis patients. I am interested in microbial genetics and proteomics as well as understanding cell wall modifications in microbes, since the cell wall constitutes the interface between a pathogen and the human host tissue.

I am interested in studying the cell wall of a human fungal pathogen called Pseudallescheria boydii, commonly isolated from the respiratory tract of cystic fibrosis patients. The microbial cell wall is the interface between a pathogen and the human host tissues, therefore identification of its components and possible modifications allows us to understand the initial steps for an infection.
