Prof. Dr. Marcos Edel Martinez-Montero (@Marcosem1967) works at the University of Ciego de Avila (www.unica.cu, Cuba). He is a professor at the University of Ciego de Avila and a senior researcher at the Bioplantas Centre with over 30 years of experience. His research focuses on cryobiotechnology and cryobionomics of plants for long-term preservation of germplasm. In general, he is interested in studying the relationships between stability (genetic and phenotypic) and cryogenic/non-cryogenic factors to contribute to the optimization, improvement and validation of protocols for cryopreservation (seeds such as tobacco, beans, wild tomatoes, maize, soybeans, sorghum, forage crops and forests; in vitro apex for sugarcane, pineapple, grapes, guavas). Full member of the Cuban Academy of Sciences. He has more than 50 peer-reviewed publications, book chapters and peer-reviewed reviews (WoS ResearcherID F-8653-2015; ScopusID 7801547985) and has skills and expertise in supervising graduate students (Masters and PhD) in plant biotechnology with a focus on cryopreservation. Former Executive Chairman of the International Congress on Plant Biotechnology and Agriculture, called Bioveg (http://bioveg.bioplantas.cu). Former General Director of the Bioplantas Centre (www.bioplantas.cu). Please feel free to contact him for more information at [email protected]

Dormancy Breaking of Teramnus labialis (L.f.) Spreng Seeds Is Affected by the Extent of Liquid Nitrogen Exposure
Teramnus labialis (L.f.) Spreng shows dormancy as a result of impermeability of the seed coat, which requires scarification treatment before sowing. Liquid nitrogen (LN) as a scarifying treatment has recently been used on this species, with excellent results. However, moisture content and immersion time on LN are factors that may affect seed germin...
