Giovanni graduated summa cum laude in Aerospace Engineering from University of Naples in Italy in 2007, where he modeled the heat transfer for space re-entry vehicles. He received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Yale University in 2013, where he developed an electrostatic MEMS device for nanodroplets atomization (i.e. electrospray for space propulsion applications. At the PMLab, he is designing, building, and testing a physiomimetic microsystem for long-term culture of pancreatic islets and/or progenitor cells.
