Gerald Ferrer is a Bioengineering PhD student in the Orthopaedic Robotics Laboratory and is supported by the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program. Gerald graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor’s of Science in Bioengineering with a concentration in biomechanics, and a minor in Mechanical Engineering. Currently, Gerald is attempting to characterize tear propagation in shoulders with pre-existing, chronic tears to assess the effect of tear chronicity on rotator cuff tear propagation. Gerald has experience with the digital motion analysis system, MIMICS, and materials testing machine.
