Summary

Currently Associate Professor of Biochemistry at Addis Ababa University Medical School, Ethiopia. Obtained my bachelors degree in Biochemistry at Oxford University, my doctorate in biochemistry/physiology at Oxford University, and did laboratory research on biochemistry of cancer, then on proteases of parasitic protozoa. Ran my own research group for 7 years, then went to medical school and obtained my MD in the USA. Internship and residency in medicine were in the USA, then I practiced Medicine as a physician for 11 years. Following this I worked as a volunteer biochemistry professor in Ethiopia for a year, then because Associate Professor of Biochemistry in Ethiopia. I am a fervent ant-tobacco campaigner, especially interested in tobacco use in developing countries and the effects of tobacco industry marketing, advertising and sales to the world's poor.
