Graduated in Biological Sciences Emphasis Biotechnology at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1998), Master's (2001) and Doctorate (2005) in Cellular and Molecular Biology at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul and post-doctorate in genomics (2005- 2007) at the same University. A CIBER-BBN researcher at the University of Barcelona (2008 - 2010) in single molecule biophysics and did a post-doctorate at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS) in TB drug development (2011). He is currently an associate professor at PUCRS and coordinates the Graduate Program in Cellular and Molecular Biology (PPGBCM-PUCRS) since 2018. He has experience in molecular biology, working mainly on the following topics: identification and characterization of molecular targets for drugs with anti-TB action, structural characterization of proteins by mass spectrometry and proteomics of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. He also has experience in Molecular Biophysics, having worked on the following topics: thermodynamics of nucleic acids, experiments with individual molecules and optical tweezers.

Tuberculosis remains a global health problem that affects millions of people around the world. Despite recent efforts in drug development, new alternatives are required. Herein, a series of 27 N -(4-(benzyloxy)benzyl)-4-aminoquinolines were synthesized and evaluated for their ability to inhibit the M. tuberculosis H37Rv strain. Two of these compoun...
