Andy Tweet is a first-year M.S. student in Civil and Environmental Engineering. Andy recently arrived at UC Davis from George Fox University in Oregon, where he obtained a B.S. in Engineering and developed an interest in water resources. Just one month after arriving from rainy Oregon, he began work on optimizing water allocation in the drought-stricken Sacramento River watershed. He thinks about who should get water when, based on water availability and the seniority of the water right held. His goal is to enable smart-use water policy by modeling water curtailments that address specific stakeholder needs, a drastically different approach to water allocation than the current use of blanket emergency regulations. Upon graduation, Andy hopes to use the skills and knowledge he obtains at UC Davis to help resolve water supply problems in an ever-more constrained world. In his free time, Andy is an accomplished tennis player, avid cyclist, and struggling ukulele player.
