Societal impact of Covid-19 pandemic

MAY 2021

ARTICLE COLLECTION - CURRENT AND LONG-TERM CONSEQUENCES

"The COVID-19 pandemic has taught us many important lessons.... These studies provide the necessary head start to conquer new viruses before they overtake us and wreak havoc on our health system, economy, and society." -Daniel DiMaio et al., Annual Review of Virology, 2020

While measures are still in place globally to limit the spread and impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, more than 1 billion vaccine doses have now been administered worldwide (New York Times). As dedicated scientists have developed the vaccines and treatments to combat this pandemic at an unprecedented pace, the global population has had to adjust to drastic changes, including lockdowns, social distancing, remote working, unemployment, and home-schooling.

Annual Reviews has curated a new Societal Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic review article collection to explore the current and future societal impacts of pandemic life.

This interdisciplinary collection is freely available to download and share with colleagues and students. Download 18 review articles from 13 Annual Reviews journals, addressing:
