We are happy to share with you the platform we created that proves once again the versatility of the Polaris OS app. For those that don't know what "prosopography" is (like us before!), wikipedia can help you and for those of you that are interested to know more about a piece of Versailles history and the platform, you can download the case study down here. French and English versions are available.
What we concretely create for The Centre de recherche du château de Versailles?
The Centre de recherche du château de Versailles is attempting to understand the networks that were woven within the court. Centered around studying the listing of offices, their history and their method of transmission, researchers seek to understand both the mechanisms of social ascent and the hierarchical structures of royal houses. Polaris OS was chosen for its flexibility (data models, forms, workflows...), its search engine capacity and data visualisation interfaces (timeline, map, network graph...). It ensures that the collected prosopographical data through the research program are captured, searched and analyzed, with the aim of studying and visualizing the networks at the court of Versailles.
Technically Polaris OS manages to :
➡️ Structure the gathered data
➡️ Identify the missing information
➡️ Check the veracity of historical data
➡️ Work efficiently thanks to a collaborative tool with different types of users
➡️ Visualize and browse data in a friendly manner for historians and historical lovers
➡️ Get an advanced networks discovery tool
➡️ Be able to search specific historical information
