How can open access help us avoid the pitfalls of traditional publishing? What role can social media play in maximizing the potential of OA? For International Open Access Week 2012, MyScienceWork organized two events in Paris, bringing together numerous players in the movement. The second evening, hosted by event partner UNESCO, saw Curt Rice reveal how open access can be not as good as traditional publishing, but better. Through the combination of digital tools and access for all, the communication of science is being transformed.
