Episode 2: Stéphanie Couvreur, PhD candidate and science communicator
Arthur realizes that he was too hesitant during his interview with Raoul de Charette. For this second encounter, he needs to establish a conversation and hold the attention of his subject.
But today his doctoral student is a young woman who invites him to her home, into her apartment! Stéphanie Couvreur is in the last year of her PhD in physics at the University Paris Diderot. For 3 years, she has conducted research on the dynamics of liquid rivulets – an area as rich in fundamental questions as in applications. In 2011, she received a grant from the l’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science program.
Arthur, still feeling shy, falls under the spell of Stéphanie’s personality and her sincerity. Unsure how to phrase his questions, he prefers to let the young woman confide in him and reveal her aspirations for her life post-dissertation.
