AXA Pop Days connects Science with Society

From June 18th to 20th, the grantees of AXA Research Fund will learn how to improve the dialogue between research, business & society

For two and a half days in June, 19 young researchers from around the world will gather at AXA headquarters in Paris to sharpen their skills for bringing their work out into the world. All grant recipients of the AXA Research Fund, the participants will be put through the wringer during AXA Pop Days, challenged to communicate their science quickly, concisely, visually and metaphorically. These three days will lead to their final presentations, Friday, June 20th, at 11:30 in Paris. You can join them online throughout the event via the hashtag #AXApopdays.

For the fifth edition of AXA’s annual science popularization event, these researchers—from France, Italy, Greece, Romania, Sweden, India, Cameroon…—will be coached on good, effective science communication. Like a before-and-after makeover, participants will present their research to their peers, before facing the ultimate challenge: delivering a refined, streamlined version to the public—including a group of AXA executives. The Pop Days workshops will provide them with the necessary tools, from a deft use of metaphor to understanding the style, structure and visual ingredients of a great presentation.

This session at AXA Headquarters in Paris will cover an array of research topics, from the risks of climate change to earthquake monitoring, species conservation, antibiotic development and mood disorders.

Because science and society need each other, take the first step toward mutual understanding and join the discussion at #AXApopdays!
